The witch was expecting a letter. The snail carrying it was doing its best.
While she waited, she put the kettle on, swept the golden leaves from the doorstep and moved a pumpkin out of the path. The cat slept through all of it. By the time the little envelope arrived, there was enough tea for two and no particular reason to hurry.
