Details
By the studio window, a poinsettia had grown wonderfully untidy. One flower reached toward the glass; another seemed to be turning away from the cold.
Here the petals become broad strokes of terracotta, plum and pale pink. A familiar Christmas flower is allowed a different wardrobe, with the loose edges and unexpected colors of a painting still drying on the easel.
Use it where the room needs a little color rather than another small ornament. It holds its own on a cream sofa, an ochre chair or a bed dressed in simple white linen.
