Details
The first run belonged to the early risers. A single red jacket crossed the blue slope while the chalet windows were still dark.
By noon there would be wet gloves beside the stove and a spirited discussion about who had taken the wrong trail. For now there was only the clean curve of the turn and a long white hillside.
Glacier blue and rust red make a lively companion for a leather chair, a pine-paneled room or a plain cream sofa. It brings the holiday trip home, including the part when everyone is finally warm.
