Details
The blue tin was never empty for long. Each visitor added something, and by Christmas Eve no one could remember which cookies had come from whose kitchen.
There are stars, jam centers and one imperfect crescent in this little painted assortment. The lid is off, the crumbs are already escaping, and nobody is saving the prettiest one for later.
Biscuit brown and faded blue give the red a pleasantly worn-in warmth. Set it on a kitchen bench or the chair nearest the coffee table. Hospitality sometimes looks very much like leaving the lid off.
