Details
Someone always brought the quilt out before the first cold evening. It smelled faintly of the cedar chest and had a different autumn tucked into every square.
This printed patchwork gathers pumpkins, little dark cats, oak leaves and indigo stars into that familiar kind of comfort. Rust, sage and oat cream sit easily together, like colors collected from the garden after the summer flowers have gone.
Place it on the kitchen bench while the pie cools, or make a small October nest with a reading chair and a soft throw. The quilt-block appearance belongs to the artwork; the feeling belongs to the room.
